Rockabilly does RULE!

This past Saturday was the Rockabilly Rules fundraiser to help raise money for the Pinup Angels who send care packages to the troops. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it to the event earlier in the afternoon, but when I did get there (about an hour before I hit the stage) the joint was packed!! Hot cars, gorgeous greasers, and pretty pinups were in abundance.

Voodoo Swing just hit the stage when I got there and I managed to run around like a chicken with my head cut off and I was a bit bossy... hehehe it's the diva in me. My girlfriend, Jenny helped me get dressed before the show (thank god she was there!) and then it was my turn to grace the stage. I decided I wanted to do a new act, but didn't have time or $$ to make my new costume, so I relied on my old One Mint Julep costume to do the trick.

Here is some video and photos of my act.

We came back inside just in time for the raffle. Some pinup and I assisted Brenda Lee in choosing the winners!

Hooray for Hollywood!

Hooray for Hollywood or aka LOOK AT ME!!! :-D

Last week before I took off to Primmtastic Primm, NV to see Chris Isaak in concert I had a few photo shoots with Perry La Fine. One of the shoots we did was classic Hollywood. I am hoping to return to th estudio and shoot a lot more in this style... even if it is very frustrating for him as hard lights were used and every slight movement had to be adjusted. One definitely needs a few hands to help when shooting this style.

If I recall, this is my first time shooting this style and I quite enjoyed the outcome of the photos. Unfortunately time was not on our side and only 1 real pose made the shoot.

A special thank you and shout out to Hollywood Regency for providing the dress and jewelry.

The dress is a late 30's early 40's velvet gown with peplum and the jewelry is art deco rhinestones. I provided the shoes and stockings. I also styled my own hair and makeup. I was a bit saddened by the way my hair turned out. Why do I never have a shoot when it is perfect??

Enjoy the photos!! All are by La Fine Photography 2009

Pretty packaging, but not for me.

Unfortunately, I have to say that trying out Boots cold cream was a disaster for me. After only one use it broke me out terribly. I have it a second try and my face was left pimply and red. So in only 3 days of not using it my face has calmed down significantly. I regret having to say that Boots, while pretty in the packaging was not pretty on my face. Far too perfumed I think. I'll stick to Pond's and LUSH.

Hair inspiration: Fleur de Guerre

I made a recent post over at Vintage Hair Elite spotlighting Fleur de Guerre's faux bangs into rolls and was inspired to try it out myself.

Knowing I needed to set my hair, I set it last night for a morning style. I have often been weary of using a rat... I am a snob about such things and I wanted to think that I could do it without the aid of a rat. Boy, was I wrong. Now, I just have to figure out what kind of rat to use for the bang part of my hair to give a smooth tight appearence. Until then, this is what I ended up with. Also note that the heat was murder on my curls and all that is left are limp locks.
